District 1 is the economic epicenter of Antioch. We have a historic riverfront downtown, the industrial business zone, as well as all the hotels and car dealerships in Antioch. We also have the charm of historic homes and a range of housing options.
We deserve an effective economic development plan that will lead us into the next generation. We can develop a multi-faceted plan focused on supporting existing businesses, encouraging new businesses and even providing the needed skills to learn how to start and support the next generation of new business. Downtown businesses will benefit from creative policy designed to help them expand, offering new ways to serves their clients. Local leaders could help by supporting and encouraging revitalization in our district. We can have business expansion, new business development, business retention and safety for patrons of our cherished Rivertown district. The fact that the heart of our economic engine has been allowed to linger with little attention and improvement is unacceptable!
I was raised in Antioch, and attended our local schools. My parents taught me the importance of education, working hard, integrity, and responsibility to myself and to others. I earned my degree in Economics from Stanford University.
In my career as a Financial Advisor, I help people and businesses reach their own goals through intelligent money management. I have spent my life volunteering in various capacities within our City and with many charitable and church organizations. I am married and enjoy outdoor activities, exploring different cuisines and watching live music performances. Other than spending time with my spouse, it’s not easy to pursue these activities in COVID times.
I am running for Antioch City Council, representing District 1 and our entire community. Why? First, I am deeply concerned and saddened with what is happening to Antioch. Poor leadership of the council majority has resulted in division and suspicion of the most important parts of our City that we rely on for our safety. Shouldn’t we all be focused on our City and the health and welfare of our citizens? Instead of doing everything possible to build community understanding, cooperation and greater respect for one another, some leaders think division is how they will seek and win political offices. Experience and proven leadership matter. My various roles serving Antioch and building a business have provided the skills and decision-making ability our Antioch needs now. Antioch is at a crossroads after years of not focusing on smart fiscal management and building for a better future for ALL of us.
I want a better Antioch! Don’t you? If you agree with me, I ask for your vote. I ask for your support for my campaign to be your next representative in District 1. I cannot bring change to Antioch without your support.
I hope you are as passionate about Antioch as I am. Bringing change and open mindedness toward other ideas is a strength I have adopted in my years as a student and a businessperson. Please join me in making positive change a reality in Antioch.
Your representative for positive change,
Manny Soliz
